What is an insemination disc, and do you need one?

A Softdisc (or conception disc) is a flexible device inserted internally after insemination to help hold sperm close to the cervix and reduce leakage. It's included as standard in our Dinky, Mezzo, and Stellar kits.

However, discs are not medically required for successful home insemination. Many people conceive without using one. Simply lying with hips elevated for 15–30 minutes after insemination achieves a similar effect. A disc is a helpful addition, not a necessity.

How to support sperm retention without a disc

After insemination with the syringe, try these simple techniques to maximise your chances:

• Lie on your back with a cushion under your hips for 15–30 minutes

• Relaxing and staying still is often enough as sperm are strong swimmers

Is this a home IUI kit?
The No Disc Kit performs intracervical insemination (ICI) which is the at-home equivalent of what many search for as a "home IUI kit." True IUI requires a clinic and medical professional. ICI places sperm at the cervix using a round-tipped insemination syringe, and is safe to perform yourself at home.

Using this kit with a sperm donor
