About us
Hapū Helpers was created by Taryn Cumming.
My story began when my partner and I fell pregnant just 12 days apart using the same donor through at-home artificial insemination. We both had low fertility rates, and our GP suggested we inseminate around the same time to improve our chances of conceiving. That shared experience is what makes our journey, and Hapū Helpers, unique.
Hapū is a te reo Māori word meaning pregnant or expectant.
We chose the name Hapū Helpers because we support people with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to help them get pregnant. We work with individuals, couples, LGBTQ+ families, and single parents by choice, and we aim to offer support that feels respectful, inclusive, and free from judgement.
Before using the name, I sought cultural guidance to ensure it was appropriate and respectful. In May 2022, I also consulted with Dr Karaitiana Taiuru, who confirmed that the use of the name was acceptable. View article here.
Hapū Helpers is grounded in community support. We donate $1 from every order to Hōkai Tahi, an organisation that provides pregnancy, baby loss, and postpartum support. We plan to extend this support to additional charities over time. My personal motto is “Give a little, help a lot”. I believe that small acts of generosity can create meaningful change.

Their story resonated with viewers worldwide, inspiring them to create Hapū Helpers.

They also provide affordable tools and resources for at-home insemination, making the dream of becoming a parent more accessible to all. Parenthood is a collective journey, and Taryn and Kat are committed to supporting you every step of the way.
